What's New

The ASICS GT 2000 10 features some awesome new updates that give these classic go-to shoes a modern facelift. The most notable change is the new FLYETFOAM Propel midsole, which is spongier than the previous compound. ASICS has also introduced their new LITETRUSS stability technology in the midsole, which elevates the GT line into the modern era of non-invasive stability shoes. The GT 2000 10 also has an updated upper design to compliment the changes to the midsole, and the adaptable mesh material will bring lightweight breathability to all runners sporting the new GT 2000 10.

The Bottom Line

The ASICS GT 2000 is well known for its versatility, durability, and stability, and version 10 provides all of these attributes while also improving upon the weaker points of the previous model. The new FLYTEFOAM Propel midsole is softer and bouncier than the FLYTEFOAM compound used in version 9, and the GT 2000 10 delivers a noticeably improved energy return. The LITETRUSS stability posting system is another notable upgrade in version 10, and this modern take on stability is not only lightweight but hardly noticeable underfoot as well, which will be appreciated by overpronators and neutral runners alike. Though lighter and bouncier, the GT 2000 10 is still not a shoe for picking up the pace, and some runners may not appreciate the clunkier heel collar. That said, these highly versatile shoes still have all the tools needed for fun and comfortable daily training runs.

Our In-Depth Look

Shoe Softnessi

Ben: "I found the ASICS GT 2000 10 to be pleasantly soft underfoot, and even when I was completing a long run, my feet felt fine throughout. While it worked well for running, the GT 2000 10 felt a bit too firm for my preference when just walking around."

Ride/Energy Returni

Ben: "Whether I was running slower hilly miles or up-tempo repeats, the ASICS GT 2000 10 felt light on-foot. They are certainly not as springy as some other options, especially compared to a more race-minded shoe, but for a daily trainer, they were responsive enough to get the job done."

Underfoot Protectioni

Ben: "The FLYTEFOAM midsole absorbs the energy from footstrikes very well, and I was able to do everything from long runs to fast workouts in these shoes. Regardless of the run, my legs felt great afterward."

Flexibilityi

Ben: "The ASICS 2000 10 does not bend much. I found them very useful for making sharp corners on my daily run to work or jumping out of the way of large bikes on the sidewalk."

Upper Supporti

Ben: "The heel in the GT 2000 10 provided a comfortable fit for me, and I found the rest of the upper plenty spacious without being too wide. I have had trouble with ASICS shoes being too narrow in the past, but that was not the case with this model."

Individual Thoughts

BenOverall Score: 8.5/10

The ASICS GT 2000 has been one of my go-to shoes for the past few years, and the new update did not disappoint. I enjoyed the combination of flexibility, cushioning, and responsiveness. I also found that I was able to run at a variety of paces over most types of terrains without any difficulty. The underfoot cushioning was fantastic, and these workhorses will continue to be my go-to daily trainer.
