From its multitude of pockets to its highly reflective stitching, BOA's Alpaca Short is a bright, handy companion on all your outdoor runs. These shorts are constructed with lightweight, breathable fabric and reflective stitching for visibility and safety. With the Alpaca, you can enjoy the benefits of a top-performing split short (or 2in1 with the 5" option) while also having a generous amount of storage for all your nutritional needs. Featuring a zippered pocket to store keys and six stash pockets for nutrition and gels, the Alpaca is perfect for refueling on longer runs. The 1" and 3" short options feature a side-split design that allows a complete range of motion for the elite athlete looking to speed past the competition and break PRs. For the runner that desires more coverage, the Alpaca 5" 2-in-1 short option as well that offers a built in short tight for added coverage and chafe-free comfort. Overall, we love the Alpaca short's light, comfortable feel, convenient pockets, and quality design, along with its budget-friendly price point.

Features & Style

Score: 9/10

Matt: "The Alpaca has the best (and most) features out of all the BOA shorts! To start, having all of the pockets in different sizes right on the waistband made for easy packing and accessibility. The reflective stitching was a nice touch that definitely helped when I had to get out for longer runs before the sun came up. The overall lightweight design makes the Alpaca Short a great option for longer days when I need to pack items but still want that flowy and free split-short feel."

Comfort & Fit

Score: 8/10

Matt: "These shorts fit nicely, and I never had a problem with wear and tear from the washer or dryer. My only issue with the fit was the drawcord on the waistband. I wish it had more of a traditional drawstring tie so that if I was carrying more gear, I could adjust the fit to be tighter to ensure the shorts wouldn't have a chance to slip. Overall, though, the shorts allowed me to run with ease and comfort."

Quality & Value

Score: 9/10

Matt: "I think the BOA Alpaca is one of the best value shorts out there. You get a ton of cool features that are very useful for a variety of runs. The materials held up, and I did not experience any problems with color fading or wearing out after a few months of regular use."

The BOA Alpaca Shorts are light, comfortable, and handle hotter temperatures nicely. My only wish is for a better drawstring at the waistband (instead of the infinity drawcord) for a more secure fit since this short is designed to carry a good amount of gear (due to its many pockets). All in all, the Alpaca Short is a solid option for runners looking to pack some nutrition, store keys, or carry other small items on longer runs.
