The Bottom Line
Specifically designed to accommodate a woman’s shape, the Salomon Sense Pro 10 W Set Pack has a snug, wrap-around fit that contours to the female physique for a next-to-skin feel. Using SensiFit technology, the pack provides a comfortable, balanced fit around a woman’s upper body, preventing unwanted bounce while adapting to her natural stride and movement. The new asymmetrical-shaped bottles are positioned to rest below the bust rather than over it to improve breathability and avoid unwanted pressure and weight across the chest. Updated sternum straps help evenly distribute gear for a more stable ride, while the pack's stretchy and lightweight fabric offers breathability and eliminates friction for a chafe-free run. Storage pockets on the side and rear make for easier functionality and quicker accessibility on the trail.
The pack offers 10 L of storage capacity for extra layers, nutrition, reservoir, and other essential gear. Included are two 500ml soft flasks with straws for convenient hydration on the go. There is ample storage on the front and back to securely carry essential items (phone, gels, clothes, keys, and other accessories) for longer runs.

Fit/Comfort

Kaitlin: "The pack felt lightweight and breathable, and the fit was like a second skin. The sternum straps provided a more accommodating fit for a wrap-around feel instead of a compressive squeeze."
Liz: "This pack has a snug, next-to-skin fit that helps to prevent bouncing when loaded. Thanks to the very stretchy materials, the pack does a great job of moving with your body and does not feel restrictive."
Pack Storage
Kaitlin: "The storage was in a great, accessible position, and I had room for everything I needed. I just wish that the front flask pockets were a little more adaptable; they held the bottles great but were too loose for other items."
Liz: "While this pack may not have as many pocket options as others (such as the Nathan Pinnacle pack), it can still easily store everything you need for a long trail run or race. The stretchy fabric allows the pack to be overstuffed with snacks, jackets, and extra gear, and the front pockets offer secure and easy access to essentials like phones, keys, and nutrition."
Hydration
Kaitlin: "The bottles do have a slight plastic taste, which is similar to any other reservoir. The small opening makes them a little trickier to fill up, and I am not a fan of the straws because they kept hitting my face when the flasks were full on my run. I would much rather use a standard soft flask instead. They do feel like quality material that is resistant to piercing and leakage."
Liz: "Like all the other Salomon women's vests in the line, the Sense Pro comes with women’s specific bottles that are shaped to accommodate a women’s chest. As a result, this provides a very comfortable, bounce-free experience. The straws come very long and require trimming, but the bottles are high quality and easy to use."
Quality
Kaitlin: "The material feels great next to the skin, making it ideal for long training. I don't think there is a material that feels quite as seamless while also providing support like this one. Additionally, the storage options were some of the most functional ones I have ever experienced."
Liz: "This pack is truly top of the line. The premium materials and construction are evident from the very first time you put it on. The lightweight fabrics are durable and have the perfect amount of stretch to move with your body without causing the pack to start bouncing around during your run."
Value

Kaitlin: "There are many features in this pack that I wouldn’t necessarily utilise, making the lower price point of the Salomon Active Skin more suitable for me. However, the quality and convenience of the Sense Pro make it worth the cost in comparison to other competing packs."
Liz: "The Salomon Sense Pro is one of the more expensive running vests on the market, and it definitely has a top-of-the-line design. Whether it is worth the additional cost is a matter of personal choice. If you are looking for something for race day or want to prioritize a lightweight pack, then it's a good option. For me, I would be just as happy with the Advanced Skin Pack at $20 less."

The sternum straps featured in the Salomon packs have become my favorite feature and provide a better fit across the chest compared to competing packs. The material felt lightweight and airy, which was great for long mileage. The storage options offered in the Sense Pro were ample and convenient for most items, and I was able to fit all my small necessities (chapstick, nutrition, keys, poison oak wipes ) in easily accessible spots on the front of the chest. I would have liked the front pouches to have a little more elasticity to accommodate a phone for quicker access. A few times, my phone went flying out in the pouch, so I kept it securely in the zipper pocket. I did appreciate the little bit of overhang on the left side of the pack that allowed me to stick the flask straw underneath. Although that’s not what it was intended for, it did keep one of the straws away from my face, and I would have preferred to have that feature on both sides. Overall, the Salomon Sense Pro is a high-quality, designed pack that is race-ready and delivers on performance. |

Salomon packs are truly amazing, and the Sense Pro pack is top of the line. Specially designed for trail racing, the Sense Pro pack is streamlined to cut down on weight and has every little feature dialed in with just what you need on race day. The pack is made with premium materials that deliver a comfortable, bounce-free fit while offering a surprising amount of secure storage. I am a huge fan of both this pack and the Salomon Advanced Skin Pack, and it could be hard for some to choose between the two. The Advanced Skin has a bit more accommodating fit (not quite the same snug, race-ready fit) and is made from slightly heavier/bulkier materials, so those looking for the lightest and most streamlined pack for race day may want to pay the extra for the Sense Pro Pack. |
