Our In-Depth Look

The Saucony Triumph 23 is for you if...

You prioritise super soft and reliable cushioning on all your daily runs.

You want a shoe that makes long runs feel easier.

You are seeking maximum comfort and a smooth, responsive ride.

What is the Saucony Triumph 23 made for?

The initial Saucony Triumph was designed as a premium trainer with an emphasis on fit and comfort, and became a popular choice for runners who prioritised a highly-cushioned shoe with a smooth and comfortable ride. As the shoe has evolved, Saucony has stayed true to the Triumph’s north star of pure comfort, tweaking the materials and construction along the way to achieve the plushest experience. The ultra-cushy midsole became the star player, delivering comfort and surprising bounce with every stride. Runners who became fans of the Triumph have looked forward to each update, anticipating the luxurious softness that the shoe has become synonymous with.

The Triumph 23 continues this legacy, prioritising soft landings and all-day support that shines on those longer, easier miles. The PWRRUN PB compound in the midsole is tuned to be softer than ever, with a surprisingly energetic bounce so that you can run longer. Comfort really is in the details with this shoe, down to the Super Responsive Sockliner adding another layer of foam under your feet. For an even easier ride, Saucony has reduced the weight of the shoe from previous versions by redesigning the outsole. The rubber is strategically placed in high-wear areas while still gripping the road, rain or shine. While a bit too soft for faster efforts, this is a great all-around shoe for recovery runs, long runs, or short runs. You will love how plush and comfortable this shoe feels—it just might be one of the softest daily trainers you ever wear.

Comfort

When it comes to comfort, the Triumph 23 hits it out of the park. The upper feels soft and breathable, making it perfect for toasty summer runs. The 3D mesh wraps around the foot to secure it in place without any pressure points — no break-in needed. The cushy midsole feels plush and cloud-like, as if you have pillows strapped to your feet, yet still offers enough structure and support for going longer distances with ease. As a high-cushioned daily trainer, the comfort is honestly hard to beat. It feels so good, you’ll even want to grab them for long walks or travel days—anywhere you need a little extra comfort in your life!

Performance

The Saucony Triumph 23 delivers exactly what is expected from a comfort-focused daily trainer. They feel soft and forgiving, yet pleasantly responsive with exceptional support. The heel-to-toe transition is super smooth, making each step feel effortless and efficient. Even after many miles, the comfort remains consistently high. The outsole has great traction on paved roads and even light paths, though we started noticing signs of wear after about 15 to 20 runs. If you tend to rack up high mileage quickly, this is a factor to keep in mind.

Although lighter than the previous version, it is still noticeably heavier compared to other lighter daily trainers. This is the natural trade-off for loading up a shoe with plush, luxurious cushioning. While this would not make it ideal for tempo runs or speedwork, we love wearing these for casual runs, longer runs, and recovery sessions.

Fit

The Triumph 23 fits true to size in both length and width. The toe box feels slightly more generous than average, which we appreciated on longer runs when feet start swelling a bit. The heel and midfoot have a nice secure lockdown, thanks to the extremely stable combination of the heel counter and glove-like mesh upper. Thanks to this, we didn’t experience any heel slippage or pressure points. No hotspots, no rubbing – just a smooth, comfortable fit from the first run on. Overall, the fit feels adaptive and should work well for most neutral runners with regular to slightly wider feet.

Individual Thoughts

KatieOverall Score: 9.5/10

The Saucony Triumph was built for runners who crave comfort, and will have them reaching for them again and again. My favourite feature of this shoe was the ultra-cushy PWRRUN PB midsole, making them ideal for long runs or to help sore legs recover from strenuous workouts. This foam also provides great energy return, which make your runs not only feel easier but more enjoyable! A breathable 3D mesh upper and a secure heel counter keep your foot secure and cool no matter how many miles you run. The only minor issue from this almost perfect shoe would be the wear and tear on the outsole. I do feel like with less rubber, it might deteriorate faster than some shoes, and I would keep to pavement and roads. As an everyday trainer, the Saucony Triumph delivers ultimate comfort and I know that I will keep this shoe is my rotation!

TorstenOverall Score: 9/10

Overall, the Saucony Triumph 23 is an excellent daily trainer that delivers comfort, support, and reliability in every run. The fit is true to size with a slightly roomier toe box, which works great for me. Performance-wise, it's smooth, soft, and consistent – ideal for recovery runs, long runs, or just getting miles in without worrying about your feet. It’s not built for speed, but for everything else, this shoe really shines. If you're looking for a well-cushioned, all-around workhorse, the Triumph 23 is a shoe I can confidently recommend.
