Overview

Introducing the Synergy 98! With this racquet Prince has created an impressive weapon with controllable power and outstanding feel. At 11.4 ounces strung this stick is mobile enough for intermediates, but it also packs a beefy 330+ RDC swingweight, which means it has enough stability and plow through for the advanced ball striker. In addition to its control-oriented 98 square inch head, this racquet has an 18x18 string pattern, giving it impressive precision when driving the ball through the court. Other features include a uniquely textured aerodynamic surface (for easier acceleration) along with a CTS beam, which is thinner in the shaft (for better feel) and thicker in the head (for extra power and stability).

On groundstrokes, the Synergy 98 offers impressive control and pocketing, and the 60-RA stiffness gives it an arm-friendly feel with great ball feedback. In addition to giving you the needed mass to drive the ball through the court, this racquet feels solid when redirecting the pace of a heavier hitter. The solid feel continues at net where block volleys come off with plenty of pop and depth, and there is enough touch to drop the ball on a dime. All in all, the Synergy 98 is an impressive addition to the Prince racquet line. Experienced players looking for a stable player's racquet with outstanding feel and controllable power should love this one.

Comments: I've been using the Prince Tour 95 which is a great racquet.  When I saw the Synergy 98 I gravitated to it due to the 18x18 string pattern.  I strung 1 up with Alu Power at 52lbs & 1 at 50lbs with RPM Blast Rough.  Preferred it strung at 50lbs.The Synergy 98 is one of the best balanced racquets I've used, the swing weight at first felt 'heavy' but after a couple hits I got dialed into the beefier swing weight. Not that the Tour 95 is a light racquet but the Synergy definitely has more 'plough through' off the ground.  Plays & feels like a 18x20 pattern. Nice racquet to volley with, doesn't get pushed around by a heavily driven ball & puts the ball where you want it to go. The 'plow through' really comes into its own on serve.  I'm not a big server but could feel a bit more weight on the ball with the serve.

The Synergy 98 is definitely a control orientated frame with the 18 mains, its not a spin monster but can can give the ball a decent rip when needed.  I'm a fairly flat hitter however the Synergy 98 provided all the spin I wanted when asking for a bit more top on the ball.  The Synergy 98 came into its own on the BH Slice, control, depth & imparts a nasty stinging slice to the ball. I have no hesitation in recommending the Prince Synergy 98 to any 'experienced' player looking for a control orientated frame that does its job all over the court.  AND very arm friendly. Prince are designing the best frames on the market now.  Great to see Tennis royalty, HRH Prince, back ruling the Court (excuse the pun) :D
